The student nurse shadowing me? She saw her first code blue today (the patient didnt make it). She was shaken. Understandably. Sat with her afterwards. Didnt offer platitudes. Just let her talk. Acknowledged the trauma. Told her its okay to *feel* it, but not to let it consume her. Reminded her of the good work she did. Its a harsh introduction to nursing. But she handled it professionally during the code. Shes got potential. Just needs support. Mentoring isnt just teaching skills; its teaching resilience. Hope she sticks with it. We need her.
