Kinda wild to watch Farcaster admit what everyone felt: the social layer never really hit, but the wallet did. After 5 years pushing “open social,” they’re now centering the wallet because users actually show up for it… and stay because it makes the network feel effortless.
The protocol stays open, so you can switch clients if you miss the old vibe. But officially, everything from here leans wallet-first.
My read: Farcaster was never a real rival to X, and most of the stickiness came from the expected drop. Ecosystem rewards kept people around, not the app itself. Now they’re diving into a wallet market that’s already packed, so this move needs to land fast or we’ll see another pivot down the line.
Thinking of exiting? Totally your call. I’m holding for now just to see what new wallet actions show up next.
