At this point in time, I agree. However, I also think that people overlook markets once they get used to it. E.g. if you are ordering something on Amazon, you don't think about how the added GMV might impact their stock price. When you sign up for Netflix, you don't think about added subscription revenue the company is making, etc. Those markets exist and have been abstracted away. There's a new thing in crypto where the markets are 24/7 and revenues are onchain instead of a quarterly earnings report so this will take more time to abstract away but I think over time, people will similarly forget that a market exists and do what they have always done. This is not to say that a specific experiment like coining things will play out, very well might not, but just the fact that markets exist doesn't always mean that there is continuous cognitive overhead. A lot of that is novelty effect.

crypto underestimates the cognitive overload and monetization fatigue that comes with turning everything into a coin or a market the more financial decisions a user must actively make -> the higher the cognitive burden -> the lower the engagement, satisfaction, and trust this is well researched across digital apps

Near-term changes to help Farcaster grow Everything below will help make it easier for people who hear about Farcaster to get started as quickly as possible and hopefully stick around. 1. Likely rebranding Warpcast to Farcaster; no final decision and if/when that's made we will have a clear public plan / communication 2. Base is launching a Farcaster feed in Coinbase Wallet to their millions of existing users 3. Improving cross-client and web client UX for Sign in with Farcaster and mini apps through "auth addresses"; for the average user that don't need to know anything about this other than they won't be constantly prompted to open their phone when using mini apps 4. Sign ups for most people will be free 5. Post sign up, helping new users get the most relevant feed based on their interests; we will also help them fund their wallet 6. Better sharing for mini apps — links that render nicely on other social media and in messaging apps, automatic deeplinking into apps 7. Warpcast Wallet on web

photo from last night with @dylanabruscato sharing /crypto-the-game with a tech-forward digital media community. @evangreenberg was there, too! the community creates immersive entertainment, AI-generated media, XR experiences, etc. a few of my takeaways: 1. @dylanabruscato is a gift to our space. high integrity, earnest, fun, with a deep understanding of what blockchain and the new internet can unlock. incredible evangelist and ambassador for what we do. 2. everyone loves the CTG concept. first question is: do i need to know crypto? 3. there was a lot of "why crypto?" and "crypto is a scam" upfront (kudos for the honesty!). when we dug in deeper, the major issues are: a) not used anywhere except speculation, b) expensive and slow. we showed them USDC p2p payment on warpcast (cc @worqas) and they were like what?! really?! special moment, instantly became more open to crypto. 4. two people said they were already reading @cdixon.eth's Read Write Own. pleasantly surprised! gonna get coffee with both soon.
