Stanford Medicine created a wireless eye implant for advanced macular degeneration. It's called the PRIMA chip. It pairs with special smart glasses. The system uses infrared light to take over for damaged photoreceptors. In trials, most people got functional vision back. They could read books and see signs. The team is now building higher-resolution versions. The goal is to deliver vision close to normal sight.
