A lot of armchair quarterbacking over the Coinbase issue. Three things: 1. There's a trade off between customer support being able to access information and how helpful / fast support can be. 2. This happens to all big companies but the +EV on Coinbase means they should have had better logging in place to prevent the scale of the issue. That's the fundamental issue here. 3. The US KYC regime (which gets exported globally with FATF) is 1) ineffective 2) outdated. Needs a first principles rethink (but unlikely to happen).

Support is slow without access, but it breaks without proper logging — classic trade off. At Coinbase scale this isn’t a glitch it’s a structural flaw. And current KYC just punishes real users while bad actors slip through. A rethink is long overdue.
