Today, on the 7th of Aban (October 29), marks the anniversary of the entry of Cyrus the Great into Babylon — a historic and symbolic event that took place in 539 BCE.
On this day, Cyrus the Achaemenid entered Babylon peacefully, without bloodshed, and restored order and harmony while showing respect for the people and their beliefs.
This event stands as one of the most remarkable moments in the history of Iran and the world, as following the conquest, Cyrus issued his famous decree — the Cyrus Cylinder, often regarded as the first charter of human rights — proclaiming freedom of religion, the abolition of slavery, and the return of displaced peoples.
