CAN BACTERIA HELP US AVOID MORE MINING? I have a new piece out in the newsletter examining a breakthrough from a startup backed by two of the world's biggest mining giants. Experts I consulted called the milestone "significant." But there are political troubles brewing. Humans have using microbes to extract metal for centuries. But the startup Endolith just released exciting new test results for its optimized process that its founders, whose efforts are backed by BHP and Rio Tinto, believe could revolutionize our ability to generate new metal from wasted tailings. Despite that promise, it's been really hard to get research funding to explore the potential of microbially-assisted mining. That was starting to change under Biden, whose NSF funded projects other countries wouldn't. Now researchers looking into mining rare earths with microbes fear major cuts under Trump. Read the story here: https://paragraph.com/@kaufman/can-bacteria-serve-as-microscopic-miners-of-the-metals-we-need

It's been a while since I've had my notifications blow up on any platform but a ton of people minted one of my paragraph articles yesterday and even though I have my phone on do not disturb: my apple watch on the other hand vibrates whenever there's a notification from Rainbow. Suffice it to say: dopamine. Thanks.

We want to eventually support a Paragraph to Farcaster auto publish flow. Eg, you could imagine you sign-in-with-Farcaster on Paragraph, and we can auto-cast (from your account) every time you publish. So, if you're auto-crossposting from Substack, it'd go from Substack -> Paragraph -> Farcaster, all automatically. This is in the future, though, and not 100% related to the Substack -> Paragraph crossposting flow!

One reason I’m excited about these types of features: Most writers and readers are still deeply rooted in web2 platforms with *incredibly powerful* network effects. These network effects won't disappear over night. But if people experience magic without changing what they're doing, the tide can start to shift.

Any web2 writer can now auto-crosspost all their writing on @paragraph The best part is it’s 100% automated with strictly upside for writers Easiest way to bring writers and their audience onchain

We already support post/subscriber migration from Subtsack. You can export a CSV and import it into your Paragraph publication in your publication settings

Pretty much, yes, with the caveat that you need to set up an existing Paragraph account first - set up Paragraph publication - connect this publication to your Substack by dropping in your Substack URL - voila - any new time you publish on Substack, we mirror it to Paragraph
