Founder’s Diary: The Clarnium Journey. Part 1 When we founded Clarnium in 2022, the Web3 Gaming wave was at its peak. Hype was everywhere - billions were flowing into “play-to-earn” ideas, and investors were handing out checks without proper due diligence. Teams that knew how to mint tokens - not build games were raising millions. The result? A flood of worthless tokens wrapped in half-finished game concepts. Meanwhile, real studios that started building actual games soon faced the harsh reality: game development takes 3–7 years, and by the time their games would be ready the market would already be cold. We looked at this chaos and asked ourselves: What if someone could unite real gamers, investors, and developers in one ecosystem? That’s how the idea for Clarnium was born a hybrid of Steam, CoinMarketCap, and Reddit, built entirely on-chain. Our goal was simple: 🎮 Give studios and indie developers a place to launch and showcase their Web3 games. 🔍 Give users a hub to discover, research, and play games with full on-chain transparency (NFT assets, token data, wallet stats, etc.). 💬 And give both sides a space for real dialogue community, demos, feedback, and early support. Technically, we built a lot: login ID, embedded wallet, marketplace, SDK tools that allow devs to focus on gameplay - while we handle the Web3 side. A year when the entire crypto market fell, and a report from top VCs revealed a brutal truth - 98% of all Web3 Gaming investments were wiped out. We realized the full gaming-crypto cycle would restart around 2028–2030, when serious studios (those funded in 2021) finally release polished products. Maybe even GTA VI will help trigger that wave if Rockstar adds blockchain elements. So, we made a pivot. We froze the gaming vertical but not our vision. Today, 80% of that foundation is built, and when the cycle returns, we’ll be ready to relaunch it stronger than ever. Clarnium has evolved into a broader ecosystem - one that connects gaming, DeFi, and Web3 infrastructure in a way that truly empowers builders and communities. This was just the first chapter. In the next post, I’ll share where our pivot led us - and how those lessons gave birth to five live products, real revenue, and a sustainable model for the next Web3 cycle.
