Army deploys additional battalion to Lanao Sur for BARMM polls ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Philippine Army has deployed an additional battalion of soldiers to Lanao del Sur to bolster security for the first Bangsamoro parliamentary elections scheduled on Sept. 14. Deployed to Lanao del Sur is the 28th Infantry Battalion (28IB) of the Army's 10th Infantry Division. The 28IB has been placed under the operational control of the 101st Infantry Brigade. Brig. Gen. Yasser Bara, 101st IBde commander, formally welcomed the officers and men of the 28IB led by Lt. Col. Elben Naval during a reception ceremony Friday at the multipurpose hall of the brigade headquarters in Barangay Matalin, Malabang, Lanao del Sur. "The arrival of the 28th IB marks a significant enhancement of the brigade's operational capability as it intensifies security preparations for the forthcoming Bangsamoro parliamentary elections scheduled on Sept. 14, 2026," Bara said in a statement.
