16 years ago, Laszlo Hanyecz spent 10,000 BTC on 2 pizzas and marked the very first time something called “crypto” or “internet money” was used in a real world transaction 🍕
But hey… why 10k BTC, and why Pizza?
Have you ever wondered why? 😄
I honestly have no idea either bro. But maybe, if it wasn’t Pizza, it would’ve been something else anyway. Because at the end of the day, crypto needed a real transaction back then. Something to prove that it could exist outside the internet and become part of real life.
And today, we’re living through the moments that celebrate that very first transaction. Somewhere around the world, in some random pizza shop, there are probably web3 bros sharing pizza slices together right now 🍕
Will BTC hit a new ATH at $120K, or somehow end up being worth “2 pizzas” again one day? I don’t know 😆
But one thing I do know is that crypto has truly changed a lot of lives, and created so many real Zero to Hero stories along the way 🚀
Happy BTC Pizza Day 🍕
