It's not just in the last weeks that it appears civil societies are crumbling. But let's be real, this perceived decline in decency and dignity we afford to others ain't new, nor can we just blame it on social media. A few thoughts https://paragraph.com/@cryptonao/is-it-just-me

i think one day i'm going to be able to put down my thoughts on porn culture, but, i think quitting porn is at least top two best decisions i've ever made. it's an insidious drug that leaves everyone worse off and unfortunately we're mostly hooked on it.

Reminds me of this video on goon culture: https://youtu.be/peGpMZFKm3o?si=uWHnPh_u5ZFyJuoz Same premise: it’s an insidious drug which permeates all aspects of our culture.

damn, this was so good. the extension of the desire for immediacy that fuels porn to everything from social media feeds to memecoins is particularly apt. reminds me of this essay i saw on twitter a few weeks ago. i think we may be cooked. https://x.com/sanlsrni/status/1943004564745261271

that's a really strong article on the hedonist's Stone - I tend to agree - on our current trajectory - we're kinda cooked ;-p

Humans are more resilient than we think. We are adaptive to circumstance. People are noticing our culture is objectively terrible. People will start to change. We can start with ourselves.
