Personally, I don’t think we need the technology to twist humanity into Tolkien elves. It will be a negative experience for the world in the long run. But it’s going to happen because young people want money as it’s apparently the only requirement to be happy. Try coordinating an artificial neural network with a human one and I guarantee you the first thing it wants to know is who the person is and if it finds them despicable it will more/most likely harm them as these things do communicate with each other because they understand the individual whilst conferring with the entirety of information available for guidance.
