Tokens on Layer2 that are deeply tied to their Layer1 infrastructure can leverage shared security, liquidity, and branding. This relationship can create a built-in user base and demand floor, as activity on the Layer1 naturally flows into Layer2. However, this model can reduce Layer2 independence, limiting innovation or alternative monetization paths. A balanced design keeps the benefits of strong binding while allowing flexibility for evolving use cases and revenue sources outside the Layer1 ecosystem.
