Movie Review: Artificial Intelligence (2001)
Steven Spielberg’s Artificial Intelligence is a poignant sci-fi tale about love and humanity. Set in a climate-ravaged future, it follows David (Haley Joel Osment), a robotic boy designed to love, on his quest to become "real" for his human mother (Frances O’Connor). Osment’s performance is haunting, while Jude Law’s Gigolo Joe adds charm. The visuals—futuristic cities and bleak wastelands—are striking, paired with John Williams’ emotive score. Though the pacing falters and the ending feels sentimental, the film raises deep questions about artificial sentience and identity. It’s a flawed yet moving exploration of technology’s limits.
