To Venus 🚀 OTD in 1978, our Pioneer Venus spacecraft launched. It was the first American spacecraft to orbit Venus and went on to study the atmosphere of our planetary neighbor.

Spiral galaxies in inverted color to show contrast and details. The largest spiral galaxy here in this photo is NGC 1356. Last photo shows non-inverted color tones.

NASA’s Galileo spacecraft captured the clearest image ever taken of Jupiter’s moon Io on October 10, 1999. Taken from just 617 kilometers (417 miles) above the surface, the image revealed extraordinary detail, about 50 times sharper than previous images from the 1979 Voyager mission.

I’m of two minds about the increased access to private space research. I think more research is better. But as will all the satellites (which are about capitalism, not research), who is going to clean up the junk left behind. We’re going to have a bunch of rovers on the moon https://phys.org/news/2025-05-private-japanese-lunar-lander-orbit.html

Happy Monday! Finally getting back to my workout routine. While I was in Ukraine, I kept up with my breathwork and meditation practice, but didn’t manage to keep up with exercising. Feels good to be back to it 🙏🖤
