Question: How important it is to have a referral when applying to accelerators? Any one open to be my referral to YC? Or other top ones? applying via product @nanograph , rapidly grew 5k GitHub ⭐️in 30 days and already seeing eco system projects popping up! PSA: not a token/crypto project, old fashion open source tech product

hiya, I was in YC S10 and I maintain a bunch of popular open source projects, happy to give feedback on your YC application too! :) I wouldn't say it's super important to get in later stage unless it's a very very strong referral but it lowers the bar to secure an interview. Basically reduces exposure to the volatility of the preliminary application pipeline.

Did YC in W12. I don't think the referrals make much difference per se.. unless it's maybe from one of the top dogs, but even there I don't see those 100% accepted. Currently, I don't even see the tool to do referrals in the UI anymore, so not sure it's even a thing anymore.

It helps a lot! Happy to help with YC. What most YC founders do to help those applying: 1. Send me your application as a Google doc and happy to give feedback 2. Will recommend if it’s a good app 3. Will help with a mock interview too (we did like 6 mock interviews the year we got in)
