Introduction to Vinyl | How to distinguish the authenticity of vinyl records | 01
In the previous issues, we introduced some little-known facts about vinyl records, and many vinyl lovers also raised some interesting questions. So today, let’s talk about how I personally distinguish the authenticity of vinyl records.
1. Record company
A regular disc will be printed with the manufacturer, distribution company, etc. These companies will also print their own unique serial number or serial code on the cover of the record. You can also check on the official website of the record company. Basically, you can find it. However, some older record companies, such as PolyGram, a record company from the last century, have very few fake vinyl records.

Introduction to Vinyl | How to distinguish the authenticity of vinyl records 02
Let's talk about how I personally distinguish the authenticity of vinyl records.
2. Record cover
The record cover is also a basis for judging authenticity. In addition to checking the record company, you should also check the preservation of the cover when you get the vinyl, except for new records. For example, I like to collect second-hand old Hong Kong and Taiwan records, so I pay attention to the degree of damage to the cover. For second-hand records, the better the cover is preserved, the higher the collection value, but the problem of fake cover cannot be ruled out. Of course, this rarely happens with old records, or I may be lucky and have not encountered it. The cover will generally decay and age over time, but this degree of decay and artificial aging are very obvious.

Introduction to Vinyl | Must-know Trivia about Vinyl 03
Chinese Classic Records and Foreign Classic Records?
Chinese classic old records are basically overpriced, and the price is still rising. Foreign records are more normal and affordable because the popularity of records abroad is much higher than in China. Currently, only a small number of people in China listen to them, and even fewer professional collectors, but there are a large number of people abroad, so vinyl records are relatively affordable.

Introduction to vinyl records | How to choose a good vinyl record
Let's talk about second-hand classic vinyl records. These records are generally expensive, old, and have a certain sentimentality
From the packaging, you can probably see the basic condition of the record from the packaging, such as whether the packaging, except for the opening, is the other cover stubborn, whether the four corners of the packaging are intact, if the four corners are not intact, don't consider it
From the surface, whether the surface of the record is smooth, whether it has been cleaned, generally speaking, the surface of a good record is not too gray, relatively smooth, and the number of times it is played is not much, whether the edge of the cover in the middle of the record is not worn
