Wildlife seemed far away to me as a child growing up in a busy metropolis; I only saw it on television. When I enrolled in a college volunteer program at a nearby nature reserve, something changed. I assisted with habitat restoration and educational excursions because I was drawn to adventure. I learned about the dynamic, unscripted world beyond my city existence while I was in nature.
