About a year ago I replaced endless scrolling with reading books. It was a very good decision.
At first it was really hard. I could read for short stints, then I lost patience and comprehension but overtime I rewired my brain and I can read for many hours at a time. There are so many benefits of this. I can read long essays, I can read research papers, I can read long client docs at work etc.
Neuroplasticity at work. Prefrontal cortex strengthening. Default Mode Network suppression. Myelination of attention circuits.
I now carry a book with me almost everywhere I go and I’m traveling a lot so I’m crushing them on long plane rides and lonely hotel room nights. It’s glorious.
