Today I casually browsed through the financial reports of major listed companies and came across a view that completely challenges common perception: Who is China’s most profitable company? Many people would probably say Tencent or Alibaba. But among the same generation of internet giants, the most profitable one in terms of gross margin is actually Ctrip. This year, Ctrip’s blended gross margin hit 81% — even higher than Kweichow Moutai. And its year-over-year revenue is still growing at around 15%. That’s honestly scary. A company that mainly sells tickets generating ¥20 billion+ in net profit a year… that’s truly outrageous.
