if you're writing zk for privacy, you should be writing your circuits in halo2. βœ… can run on a phone or browser (hence private) βœ… insanely fast (hand optimisable) βœ… constantly improving βœ… great open source community, not owned by a specific company

I assume it just aggregates different proofs before posting the root one on chain. This is a real benefit for early projects, but much less so to established ones as they already before aggregation of their txns.

I don't think you'd get a speed improvement by using folding directly. Recursion is always going to be slower than having it all in a single circuit. I guess technically with folding you could have multiple separate machines doing it in parallel, but seems like overkill.
