This study analyzes message complexity in consensus protocols tailored for IoT networks. By evaluating communication overhead in lightweight protocols like PBFT and Raft adaptations, we identify bottlenecks in resource-constrained environments. Simulations demonstrate that hybrid approaches combining gossip protocols with threshold signatures significantly reduce message exchanges while maintaining consistency, improving scalability in dense IoT deployments.
