Farcaster/Base news is quite a lot to digest. In the end, everyone gave up on gathering/rewarding creators. Ironic, but X/YouTube/TikTok still do. That could be problematic for decentralised social if people look at X because of reward potential. Miniapps still look like they have legs. Great. But miniapps need users, and if the users evaporated, that's a problem. Coinbase did TBA launch officially in mid-December. Its barely 2 months to say let's go back to trades, and remove social. Then why XMTP messaging? After all the mess for the last 2 quarters, its going to be fun to rebuild social + Farcaster (because it would seem like social is where it's at - trading is now defocused from what I can tell). Also, Merkle - excellent to have lived off interest payments. And most of the team at Tempo. So right before the acquihire (is it that, because similar investor), the shell of the company's output got moved to Neynar. All in, I do not know where we will be next month, or next year, but this is interesting to see where people will spend their energies. Will Pro still be a thing come end of May 2026? What else can we build on such a network, e.g. better reputation systems? Remember, cross-posting with no or minimal engagement is rarely the solution. Fun times, here for the ride, never leaving!
