The story of my very first WSOP final table It's 2014, I'd played the WSOP for the 3 years. My only cash: a min cash in the ladies' event. I was cruising in the 10k omaha 8 or better event. I woke up the day of my first chance at a final table. My brother texts me, "Can you call me?" I know it's not good news. I found out my grandmother passed away. Out of everyone in my family, she was always the most supportive of my unconventional life decisions. I was gutted. She was my pillar. The one who was always rooting for me. I felt so many things. Anger. How could the universe do this to me? At my first chance? It takes my grandmother. Sadness. I'd never get to see Gram ever again, and here i was gambling in Las Vegas. A friend of mine told me, "This was the only way she could see you play." This gave me some solace. I pulled myself together and rallied an 8th place finish. I flew home and gave the eulogy. I flew back and played another event. This time, I did even better...
