A female woolly rhinoceros (Coelodonta antiquitatis) perfectly preserved in permafrost. The beast was discovered in 2007 in the lower reaches of the Kolyma River at a depth of five to nine meters from the surface of a gold mine. A female rhinoceros lived about 39,000 years ago. The animal even preserved its stomach with food remains.
