There's something immensely disorienting when coming back home from long-term, nomadic travel. Just last month I was on a cruise in the Antarctic Pensinsula. Then, earlier this month, I was scuba diving with hammerhead sharks in the Galapagos. And now, I'm wide awake in the wee hours of the morning in Singapore, sitting in my apartment and feeling incredulous that I was away from home for a full year.
