So doing this post will probably gain me a lot of hate from Chinese people but I do view it as a valid food culture that is not well known outside of Korea that deserves representation so please no hate. 🙏 Here goes… I’m not sure how many people are aware of this, but Korea has it’s own version of Chinese food. Like in the States, very little of it resembles authentic Chinese cuisine but apparently it is it’s own thing and in my opinion, is an inseparable facet of modern Korean dining culture. Koreanized Chinese food is just another example of hybrid cuisine, influenced by Chinese immigrants and different levels of cultural exchange between Korea and China, it is a bold reinterpretation of Chinese flavors that has become so much a part of Korea that you will never find a Korean anywhere that has not enjoyed at least one of the dishes offered by this much loved bastardized version of Chinese cuisine. To put it simply you could say that essentially it is the Korean “Tex-Mex” .
