Spent the evening planting; trying to take advantage of this cold front (enjoyed the Stanley Cup on the radio of course)
We’ll see if these cells make it all the way to the coast. We could use a spot of rain, been back into a summer dry spell.
Also checked on the lettuce I planted Thursday evening; which looked a bit wilty midday Saturday.
No worries, roots are very much doing their thing. All those are new growth in 72 hours without irrigation.
something, something Calcium…

Before we had kids I hosted weekly book groups/potlucks every Monday night through the winters.
Would make a fresh soup and have a consistent reason to keep everything tidy.
We kept that rhythm up til second kid, then slowly migrated to a neutral space, and eventually once enough of the group had kids, to midday lunches once a month through the winter.
Rhythms are great for social and learning space.
Would imagine we’ll revisit once kids have moved on.
Used to do one ag book and one finance/econ topic each winter.
Good times.

Debating if it’s time to start shoveling yet… seems like the current band has at least another 2-3 hours of juice.
No idea on totals cause of drifts, saw 24” for someone in town a couple of hours ago. Will call it “enough”. No school tomorrow and would say Wednesday looks iffy too.
Power went out around 7AM; doubt it comes back on today.

GN - twitter algo served me well here.
Yall think big band and swing had another renaissance in the next decade?
Swing came through commercially with big bad voodoo daddy. Squirrel nut zippers, etc. turn of the century…
Was thinking in the age of AI the experience of a big band playing live, with many people creating music (similar to orchestra or chorales) would be an attraction.
Thoughts?
