I am long meat consumption for those that have the financial means… through any time horizon.
Segmented toward quality in the western economies means those who have access to pasture raised, free range livestock will benefit from the health benefits they provide.
I spent a few years following a vegetarian diet, then slowly started to eating meat when I started farming and came to better understand the positive impact animals can have on the environment when managed well (note this is often in stark opposition to most of today’s meat options for Americans. Especially so for pork and chicken which until the last couple of years greatly increased their share of protein on American’s plates.
I think you’re right in the thesis that there will continue to be a push for alternatives for “climate” and animal welfare reasons… yet think in the medium term shifts will continue to be driven primarily by household economics.
About to go enjoy a burger so I’m biased…
