All of us have done it. The major project, the gym session, or that essential email can always wait. However, even when we are aware that we would feel worse later, why do we put things off?
According to psychologists, procrastination is more about feelings than it is about being lazy. Avoiding a task truly means avoiding the unpleasant emotions that come with it, such as boredom, worry, fear of failing, or even self-doubt. Even if it costs us in the long run, our brains are attempting to shield us from suffering in the near term.
