Border wall construction (included in the big beautiful bill) is 100% stupid AF. A drone-based system is a more cost-effective and effective alternative to a physical border wall for achieving similar security outcomes. For $1–$2 billion initially and $1 billion annually, a robust drone program could provide comprehensive surveillance, deter crossings, and adapt to threats like cartel drones, outperforming a $14–$28 billion wall that offers limited deterrence and high ancillary costs. To maximize impact, drones should be integrated with ground technologies and agents, as a standalone drone fleet cannot fully replicate a wall’s physical presence in high-traffic urban areas. Just give the money to Anduril and call it a day…

Not true, you’re out of your competency zone. Need both fence with sensors and drones, and even then it’s not nearly full proof.

agreed and it's much better to build out these capabilities than just building a wall

Completely 110% dumb asf There was a time when I was in the US Marines when they had us go support the border patrol in Arizona. Every day, we kept catching the same people that we would send back. It was a game of attrition. Eventually, people got through. That opened my eyes to how futile the systems in place there are. There are much better ways to handle the border than a wall that will be dug under, scaled and waste huge amounts of money. All of us realized that a wall was one of the most foolish talking points of politics.
