Lighter just introduced two account types:
Free Account
• Enabled by default
• Free forever
• Full trading access
Premium Account
• Faster execution speed
• Higher rate limits (API- focused)
• Fees: 0.002% maker / 0.02% taker
To compare - on Hyperliquid you don’t get to choose, fees apply by default no matter what tier you’re on. I’ll drop a table below so you can clearly see the difference.
The CEO also confirmed in an interview that Premium accounts earn more points, but that feature is mainly designed for API traders and high-frequency execution.
