@boiler

When I was in my super data analysis phase with Farcaster, @neynarr was incredibly helpful and supportive. I really appreciated the infrastructure they built to make data queries accessible (if you're into that sort of thing). Total respect for Neynar and @dish, who was personally providing customer support at the time and, my guess, probably still is. I am definitely one of the decentralization maxis who has been around since the early days and will always push for the decentralized solution. What always felt most important to me was decentralizing the data itself. Make it easy and inexpensive to run a Farcaster node, à la nostr. I'm semi-technical, not technical enough to know if I'm talking out of my ass on that one, but I still believe it. The protocol should not exist on a few dedicated servers. Decentralization isn't optional, it's imperative. I appreciate @cassie for the sincere effort to make that happen. It really isn't that controversial. It's just the right thing to do. I'm not 100% sure forking and splitting the protocol is the direction I would have chosen, but so be it. In the spirit of Ethereum and open source, a fork is something to be celebrated and encouraged, not mourned. I think there's a real opportunity here for all sides to prevail. @dwr and @v are to be forever respected and adored, warts and all. We are all limited by whatever limits us — sorry for the hokey hippie shit, but it's true. The Merkle team created a body of work that is absolutely incredible, and now they've passed it on. What a gift. For my part, I'm not going anywhere. I've been here since the early days because I believe in what this community is capable of, and that hasn't changed. Whatever shape the protocol takes from here, I'll be present, participating, and rooting for the decentralized future we all signed up for.
