He left power after pursuing every avenue could think of to keep it.
He urged governors to “find” him votes, solicited the help of foreign governments to go after political opponents, plotted to create fake slates of electors, urged his vice president to certify those fake electors, and allowed his mob to attack the capitol.
He was surrounded by people constantly keeping his worst impulses in check. If he learned his lesson and installs loyalists to every position possible within his power, who knows what happens. Especially with years of planning to work with this time.
I don’t think the end of US democracy is the most likely outcome, and hopefully the supreme court doesn’t get insane enough to not remain a check on him.
Though if US democracy were to fall, i struggle to think of any other way it would begin than something very similar to this.
