In a distant village there lived a boy named Maxim. He was known for his honesty and truthfulness. However, one day, something strange happened. One day, Maxim saw his friend Vasya steal an apple from a neighbor's garden. Under pressure from Vasya, Maxim decided to help him deceive a neighbor, claiming that he saw someone else doing it. It was his first lie. At first, Maxim did not feel bad, but over time, the lies began to haunt him. He began to notice that his friends stopped trusting him, and his reputation as an honest man began to crumble. One day, when Maxim got into an unpleasant situation because of his lies, he realized that honesty and truthfulness are more expensive than any apple or temporary pleasure from deception. Maxim decided to correct his mistakes and confess to his neighbor that he saw Vasya sneaking around the garden. Although it was unpleasant, Maxim realized that only truth and honesty can bring real happiness and respect.
