It seems rare drops have likely been disabled, why?
An ex-Valve employee wrote on a forum post a few months ago that random rewards should be “a fun surprise, but not economically attractive enough to become a job.”
Old rare drops are "infinite", low volume, bot farmed and fundamentally structurally unhealthy
Ending the supply turns them into legacy items and closes the system, basically making them a dead endpoint
Even though Valve may not like the idea of these case spiking in price, it just seems like an acceptable collateral for effectively removing incentive to create bots and turn matchmaking into labor 🤠
