This upgrade gives AI agents more flexibility while maintaining self custody and configurable spending guardrails, ensuring secure autonomous transactions across multiple blockchains. Another major addition is x402, Coinbase’s HTTP native payment protocol which allows AI agents to make machine to machine stablecoin payments for APIs, compute and services without accounts or human intervention. With tools like CLI wallet balance checks and the new bazaar service discovery UI, Coinbase is making it easier for developers to build autonomous on chain agents that can discover services and pay for them instantly. This marks another major step toward agentic AI operating seamlessly across chains, especially as the ecosystem has already processed over 165 million x402 transactions.
