Brake Van B583 London Transport Museum Depot This wooden wagon has a central handbrake system which can be used to stop certain types of trains. London Transport used brake vans on engineering trains in the Underground system, moving ballast wagons, rails, and other materials around the network. Built in 1962, Brake Van B583 continued to be registered for use until the 1990s. Since then, it has been restored and is living its best life at the London Transport Museum Depot.
