It wouldn't be a surprise, and it provokes a great deal of anger and a feeling of injustice. The way some music labels exploit musicians, taking a large share of their earnings and denying them creative control, is a problem for the music industry. Tracing the financial arrangements and the power dynamics within the music labels might be a challenging journey, but let's hope the truth empowers musicians.
