but for some of the 20th century american economy, there are 21st century newcomers brought on by the merger of old school hard manufacturing + software

ford/gm -> tesla
boeing/rockwell -> spacex
lockheed/northrop -> andruil

General Motors is a good example. Also Ford, Anheuser-Busch, Philip Morris.

Much less car buying, beer drinking, and cigarette smoking these days among elites. That 20th century economy is getting sunset.

Walmart is different, as it’s transitioned online well enough to at least hold ground against Amazon. And SpaceX is very 21st century.
