Bells 🔔
The world's largest collection of bells was collected by the chief curator of the Alexander Pushkin State Museum, Semyon Geichenko. Semyon Stepanovich began collecting bells in 1943, dreaming of equipping the bell tower of the Assumption Cathedral in the Svyatogorsk Monastery, where the poet's ashes rest. However, Geichenko got so carried away that the bells could no longer fit either in the house or in the barn. The man ensured that the best bells were placed on the cathedral bell tower, despite the fact that the Soviet government strongly prevented this. Nowadays, their ringing annually opens the Pushkin poetry festival in Mikhailovsky.
