I am a genXer and there is much I relate to in this. I am a bit different in terms of tech (had my first PC at 13 in the 70s) and willingness to be public on social, but there are a ton of other things I match to with regard to self-sufficiency, multiple streams of income, no trust in corporate bullshit, etc. I encourage you to watch for insights into the people you know born in the generation nobody talks about from 1965 to 1980. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5YmIqYSqA0
