An animal whose IQ is comparable to that of a human. Koko the gorilla, born in 1971, was trained by scientists at Stanford University from childhood. She knew more than a thousand signs of sign language and was able to understand about two thousand words of English, and the results of her IQ tests corresponded to the normal level of an American adult. Coco knew how to describe her feelings, swear and joke. For example, she once coquettishly called herself a “good bird,” declaring that she could fly, but then admitted that she was making it up. She died on the morning of June 19, 2018 in her sleep in California.
