Building a game that retains players is extremely hard Building a live service game (ie competitive multiplayer game w/ constant updates) like http://defenseoftheagents.com is even harder đŸ¤Ŗ But i'm proud of the work that i've done so far and have learned an insane amount. I've only been able to update and iterate this game so much because of my player base that keeps coming back day after day They're constantly suggesting new features, QoL changes, balance patches etc. Through this constant iteration i've learned what makes a game actually fun and engaging It is very trivial to build a game nowadays, but to build a GOOD one is not easy. And will keep getting harder IMO as the barrier of entry to game dev gets lower and lower I want to take a real stab at bringing this game mainstream, ie scaling to thousands+ of users. My existing player base inspires me and the fees from $DOTA allow me to keep pushing They say if you do what you love, you never have to work a day again in your life 😁
