My wife and I are taking our youngest off to college today. Yesterday we met with a notary to sign some legal documents. Among them was a guardian ad litem that gave us fiduciary powers in the unlikely event our child is incapacitated.
It’s not the cheeriest thing to think of at this time. However, I would much rather have this covered and not need it than need it and not have it.
The process of letting go is convoluted and emotionally loaded. When stress increases, our best option is to increase structures.
