As an educator I work to instill my students with a routine of self care and confidence. For many years they have encountered overly harsh corrections in an attempt to gain compliance. Instead it caused them to feel shame and doubt. By allowing them to try and fail they own their learning. Adults may not agree with the conclusions they arrive at but the autonomy the children develop by doing it themselves will last a lifetime.
