“Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.” This quote was popularized by the fictional character Forrest Gump in the movie of the same name. He may as well have been called fortuitous Gump since he seemed to stumble upon every consequential and beneficial moment, fad, an invention of the latter half of the 20th century. The truth is, he encountered much tragedy and woe. Forrest’s simple optimism and joy is what really yielded his good fortune. With an outlook like this misery and happiness can, “go together like peas and carrots.”
