I don’t think the average person pays attention nor cares because it does not impact their lives (at least not in obvious ways). Business folks in my circles are just being pragmatic about it — a mix of preparing for potential economic effects (to trade in particular), and also acknowledging that many of the policy reversals (e.g. on climate commitments) won’t last beyond these four years, and that we can pretty much ignore them and keep building the future (which belongs to Asia anyway). Note that this isn’t my personal outlook, just what I’ve observed over the last month since inauguration
