I’m rebuilding an analog library after some years of being an e-book maxi. I absolutely love hardbacks for how pretty they look on the shelves and the intergenerational durability. But the prices I’m seeing for hardbacks are just obscene, relative to the marginal cost of printing

Same. Till 2022, I hadn’t lived in the same place for more than six months since 2006. I moved so much within India and lost thousands of books over the years. The irony is that when I finally settled down, I fell in love with ebooks.

I have been told that Shopee/Lazada sells pirated printed books but have never bought them myself (any time I need a book it's usually a textbook and I cannot wait), you may wanna take a look.

Hard to achieve intergenerational durability in a humid place like Singapore. Easy for books to brown or have mold/mildew without proper climate control.

I love physical books and am torn between buying physical books and using e books. I like e books because before bed I can read with the lights off and when I am getting sleepy I just shut down the e reader but man I miss having a physical book in my hand.
