Maya(ig: stolenbesos) was a model before becoming a photographer. Because she didn't like the androgynous and sexual shooting style of male photographers, she picked up her camera and became a photographer herself. A set of lobectomy photos she took for the actress Chole Cherry in "Euphoria" brought her into the public eye.
Maya's works are often shot with a cool-toned flash and framed with black and pink tones, which makes her works present a dreamy softness while also having a sharp sense. The girl in Maya's lens doesn't need to pretend to be sexy to please the camera. She resonates with the subjects, capturing their lost, vulnerable or indifferent sides. By capturing their true emotions or moments, she hopes to empower them instead of shaping the female image according to traditional male aesthetics
